Meet Our Herd

"Some horses will test you, some will teach you, and some will bring out the best in you." - Unknown

Dude

Quarter Horse

  • Born April 2000
  • Chestnut
  • 15 Hands
  • Gelding

Dude is "built like a tank". Most quarter horses will range from 1,000 lbs to 1,200 lbs, but Dude weighs a whopping 1,350 lbs! He is built for strength and hard work, yet his favorite thing is to be loved and pampered! Even horses have disabilities and special needs. Dude went blind in his right eye in 2010, due to an infection. Dude has adapted to his condition and uses his other senses to go about his every day horse life. Some people would see his vision loss as a hindrance, but we see it as a way for others to relate with Dude.

Misty

Gaited Horse

  • Born May 2009
  • Chocolate
  • 16 Hands
  • Mare

Misty is the tallest horse at the ranch at 16 Hands. She was bred to be a show horse, but she never made it to the ring. Misty is a gaited horse, which means she racks instead of trots or lopes. Someone forgot to tell her though because she loves to run in the pasture! With her gentle nature and her love of being pampered, she fits right into being a therapy horse. She is a great listener and a strong shoulder to lean on!

Ransom

Quarter Horse

  • Born 2007
  • Buckskin
  • 16 Hands
  • Gelding

Ransom is one of the most loving, gentle horses you will ever meet! He is always up for any task you give him, but he also loves to socialize! Before he came to the Ranch, he was a TV star (let's just say he's not a fan of zombies)! He also used to be a real cowboy's horse and herded cattle in Texas. Since Ransom is so laid-back and good-natured, he is a fan favorite and a great horse for beginners. Standing at 16 hands tall he looks intimidating, but he is just a huge teddy bear. He also loves to give "fist" bumps with his nose!

Maybelline

Quarter Horse

  • Adoption day: April 21st, 2021
  • Paint
  • 15 Hands
  • Mare

Maybelline, or Maybel, is one of our most unique horses. Maybel came to us as a rescue but has quickly become unforgettable! With her stylish, natural eyeliner and blue eyes, she is quite the showstopper! Maybel is famous for her yoga moves, and she loves all things pink. Her personality can best be described as that of a unicorn mixed with a dragon, all in one!

Amos

Quarter Horse

  • Born May 2009
  • Gray
  • 15.1 Hands
  • Gelding

Amos is just one of those horses you can talk to! He has such a fun personality, but at the same time can be so quiet and loving. He is the one horse at the Ranch who has been with Ms. Kayla since birth! He loves to socialize with people, horses, and even pigs! He will listen to your secrets, hopes, dreams, and your hard times without any judgement. He loves to participate in ground work with our children and teens in the Dream Catchers and 4 Directions programs.

Skydancer

Gaited/Quarter Horse

  • Born 2005
  • Paint
  • 14.2 Hands
  • Mare

Skydancer, or Sky as most call her, is rambunctious, nosy, and playful. She is a goofball who is always up to something, whether it's good or bad! Her personality of a bossy teenager comes into great use during our sessions with the 4D program. She will test their willingness and boundaries. The girls will learn, though, that if you can get Sky to bend to your will, you can do anything!

Dolly

Halflinger

  • Born 2001
  • Chestnut with Flaxen Mane & Tail
  • 13.2 Hands
  • Mare

Dolly came to the ranch as a rescue in 2022. In her past life, she was a workhorse on an Amish farm. She's equal parts sassy and sweet, and loves to be pampered. She is strong willed, blonde, and curvy like her namesake! She's been an excellent addition to the ranch.

Phoenix

Thoroughbred

  • Born 2008
  • Grey
  • 16 Hands
  • Gelding

Phoenix joined the herd in 2022. Phoenix is a retired polo horse from a local Cleveland farm. He didn't retire from the polo field due to age but rather due to his lazy, goofy, slow-and-steady type of personality. Phoenix, of course, still has 'giddy up and go', but only after multiple requests. He laid back style is a perfect fit for our Brave One program.

CupCake

Shetland Pony

  • Born 1996
  • Paint- White and Liver Chestnut
  • 11 Hands
  • Mare

CupCake is a small pony with a lot of sass and love of food! She is the oldest of all the horse at the ranch, but sometimes acts like one of the youngest! She may be small but she thinks she is 15 hands tall! She even managed to catch the eye and heart of our lovey gray horse Amos. When CupCake is not flirting with Amos in the pasture or trying to eat her own weight in grass she is working mostly in the Brave One program. She is so wonderful and calm with each student.

Tux

Pony

  • Born 2008
  • Dark Bay
  • 12 Hands (48 inches)
  • Gelding

Being our only male pony, Tux is always getting attention from the ladies. He loves to hang out at the fence with the older horses though. His full name is Tuxedo, but we affectionately call him Tux. He is the largest pony at the ranch, which makes him great for our beginner students. He is a very laid-back guy who loves to be around children, and he'll follow you wherever you go!

Muffin

Miniature Horse

  • Born 2002
  • Bay
  • 7.3 Hands (31 inches)
  • Mare

Muffin is the smallest miniature horse we have here at the ranch. One of her favorite pastime is eating as much hay as she can fit in her mouth! Muffin loves to dress up, she even has her own pair of high-top tennis shoes! In addition to her time at the ranch, Muffin travels to school functions and community outreach events to delight children with her dazzling personality. She is also our reading ambassador for the Reading Warriors program.

Pickles

Pony

  • Born 2019
  • Bay
  • 9 Hands
  • Mare

Pickles is our youngest pony on the ranch! She wins the award for 'Floofiest and Goofiest' animal at the ranch. Isn't she adorable? Pickles is currently in training to join the Reading Warriors program and in the meantime, she provides us all with quality entertainment! You can always find her sleeping, eating, or following one of the older ponies around. Pickles is super curious and nosy, and one of her favorite times of the day is snuggle time!
